Cape Cod... round 2

  Having been home for a day or two, we have been able to catch up on a few things since being gone...mostly sleep for me. It is amazing how much energy kids have, I get tired just watching them all day. Shout out to all the parents out there that deal with that on a daily basis, I have even more respect for you all now. But another thing I have been able to do these past few days in addition to sleep, has been to go through all our pics we took while up on the Cape, and boy were there lots. Between our phones, our pocket cameras and my new 'serious' camera, we were able to pretty much capture most of what we did in one way or another. So while it was hard to narrow it down, here are a few of my 'favorites'.

There were a few handstand wars between the guys. Mickey, Shaun's brother, took first, however, I think our nephew, Ty, will be giving him a run for his money in a few years.

Both Shaun and Ty saw that the backyard doubled as a wrestling mat and went a few rounds. While Shaun came out on top, Ty definitely had many shining moments..most notable trying to cover Shaun's eyes in the heat of the battle, kicking him dangerously close to his 'jewels', and a full body weight blow to Shaun's sternum.

Threw the football around in the backyard.

Took some pictures of us all together.

Cape Cod

 For the last few days, we have been spending time with Shaun's family in his hometown on the Cape. I have to admit, sometimes I feel like we are getting the best of both worlds (or 3 worlds in our case) because my family is in San Diego, Shaun's is up at the Cape and then we live most of the year on the French Riviera, rough life. I feel pretty happy to be able to call these places home and or hometown and not somewhere ummmm, lets say, less desirable. So for the last few days we have tried to experience all that the Cape can throw at us.....mainly seafood, the beach, and those freakin' awesome hydrangeas. Hydrangeas grow like weeds here and I am pretty confident that most houses wouldn't have a problem supplying entire weddings with them from just their front yards alone. We've had water balloon fights, corn hole competitions and many many many margaritas. I get the feeling we may need a vacation after a vacation...

Moment for life

     5 years ago on a Saturday night in sunny San Diego, Shaun and I wed in front of our closest friends and family. And to say it felt like a fairytale is an understatement. You know how they say there is always something that goes wrong? Nope, not us, we had everything go perfect. Nothing went wanky. And as smooth as that day went, these last 5 years have gone by just as smoothly. I couldn't be luckier in finding not only my soul mate but my best friend and someone who I honestly enjoy spending all my time with. We know that it will not always be easy (although living with me I am sure is a breeze) and there may be bumps in the road but as long as we can tackle life together and make each other laugh, I am in. 5 years down.... here's to many more year!!!

Birthday wishes...

{Originally had a heart on it but someone couldn't wait to dig in}
     Today is Shaun's birthday and yes, I am older than him... by 3 weeks or so. Doesn't matter that it is a mere 20 something days, his shtick is that he married a cougar. Nice, huh?. So I guess that means I married myself a 'younger' man, so it goes both ways. He doesn't want this big hoopla today, just a dinner/drinks with some close friends. So we will enjoy the day as if it were any other, work out, hang out and lots of eating. But so far the highlight of our day has been learning that Shaun's parents called our house line (which we have not had for around 8 years) and sang Happy Birthday to some stranger, and after they finished the man said 'I didn't have the heart to stop you, sorry'. Happy Birthday babe!!

{Think she is trying to rub in the fact that the weather has been all over the place here in Atlanta?}

Georgia Aquarium

     It only makes sense to do a blog about the Georgia Aquarium fresh off my last post about sharks on the Cape. Well, at least in my little world it makes sense. And it was not planned...at all, so don't get any ideas. If I only was that smart to segway from sharks to the aquarium on purpose. But it just so happened that we had some friends in town this past weekend with a little one and when they suggested going to the aquarium, we both jumped at the opportunity to go, seeing we haven't been since it opened in 2005. We had heard all the hoopla of it being the biggest in the world, it being the only place outside Asia to have whale sharks, and also having an incredible dolphin show (which was way more dude in tights singing, than dolphins doing tricks). And a bonus for us was if it sucked, we could chalk it up to being a trip for Kolton (said little one) and blame him, not really. There are not many things that actually live up to the hype, but I can safely say the aquarium did. It was borderline overwhelming...thank God for the freebie map they handed out. My personal favorites were the Beluga whales because they got frisky and were very active when we passed by. Shaun's favorites were the otters since they played non-stop, think they reminded him of our late dogs Max and Bella. About 5 minutes into the dolphin show, all of us adults looked around to make sure we were actually at the dolphin show, not the theater. I am sure the kids enjoyed the minimal dolphin action, but adults, you have been forewarned...there will be tights, overacting and singing.

{This little guy came over to the glass to say hi}

{No idea what kind of fish this is, but the markings are freakin' awesome, if only I could find a top in that print and color}

{Don't they always look happy?}

{Who me?!?!}

{This is the closest (hopefully) I will ever be to a shark}

{Whale shark, again cool markings}
